What you end up seeing — the tiling, the sanitary ware, the lighting — is the last layer of a bathroom. What decides whether that bathroom is still just as good in ten years sits behind it.

Plumbing that is pressure-tested before the walls are closed. Electrics checked before anything is finished. Waterproofing on the floor, in the shower and in every corner and seam. The right fall towards the drain. Underfloor heating, substrate and levelling that are correct before the first tile goes on.
